As we have reported, representatives from the Marcus Foundation recently met with several physicians from the Massachusetts General Hospital ("MGH"), see news article here, and came away impressed with the progress being made at MGH in the treatment of brain tumors, due in part to grants provided by the Foundation, and with the many families that have benefitted from the financial support provided by the Marcus Fund for Families. As for the Fund for Families, I can personally attest that when one has a child being treated at the hospital, one's full attention has to be on the care and comfort of that child, and it is indeed so incredibly helpful to be relieved of certain incidental day-to-day expenses and concerns. That is the purpose behind the Marcus Fund for Families.
While progress is being made, there is a long way to go in the treatment of brain tumors, and there are many more families needing our assistance. As a result, we have established the lofty goal of increasing our annual support to MGH by an additional $20,000 for next year. To do so, we will obviously need the continued support of those that have loyally supported us over the past 30 plus years. But we will also need to broaden our support, and to do so, this year's raffle will feature cash prizes, with the hopes that it will attract a larger audience. To that end, we ask that, when you receive the formal announcement regarding the Fall Raffle, that you not only enter the raffle by making a donation to the Foundation, but that you share it with friends and families, and encourage them to do likewise.
Together we can continue the battle that Marcus so valiantly fought.
Thank you
